In addition to light weight, a tuned engine and minimalist bodywork, the Café Racer typically features distinctive ergonomics. Along with the rearward located seat, the posture often required rearsets, or rear-set footrests and foot controls, again typical of racing motorcycles of the era.
Great design is eliminating all unnecessary details
Today, for the owner-rider wanting to replicate the ’60s look of a café racer, the good news is that there are many over-the-counter parts for the most popular bikes (Suzuki, Honda, BMW, Ducati… ). In this regard let’ in todays post take a closer look on the Café Racer Seats available out there. Most seats are made out of fiberglass nowadays. Typically the seat will either be completely flat, or have a hump behind the rider where a passengerwould sit. The extra space provided by this hump is most commonly used to relocate electrical wiring and/or a battery if the bike requires one. Café Racer Seats are not commonly know to be comfortable, but I’d bet the below pictured ones would feasable options to fit on your bike.
I highly recommend that you contact the seller and make sure that what you are looking to purchase is compatible with your bike. If you’re looking to make one yourself, do a search via Google for now, I’ll come up with a description on “how tu built your own Café Racer Seats” later.
